Buchanan Bus Station


This large spaced bus station in Glasgow city serves as a central hob for bus traffic in and out of Glasgow city. There are also transport service buses that service the city which run through the Buchanan bus station. If you are looking to make an inexpensive trip, perhaps a road trip with friends to any destination within England and around Scotland the Buchanan bus station is the right spot to catch a coach to get you on your way. The major coach operators at this station are the National Express and the Megabus Company.

 

Buchanan Galleries


About the largest shopping centre in the city of Glasgow, it is popular for its massive traffic of people generally casually strolling around either window shopping, people watching or perhaps on a shopping spree. You could find almost everything within its confines and the price ranges from the inexpensive to relatively high priced merchandise allowing affordability for just about anyone who loves to shop. There are also cafes, snack take outs and an ice cream corner right in the Buchanan Galleries terrace

 

Cineworld Glasgow


The Cine world cinemas are about the most throng cinemas in Glasgow. Its right in the city centre and is equipped with state of the art screen rooms with digital and 3D facilities. Its over four floored building holds several viewing rooms that are sizeable and comfortable. There are concessionaries and a bar to service its ever inflowing customers. Is there a recent movie that has caught your fancy? The Cineworld cinema is just the place to go see it.

 

City Halls & Old Fruitmarket


This great hall formerly the fruit market in the city is now a place to go see absolutely brilliant comedy shows, music concerts and gigs in general. A very relaxing environment with a bar within that sets the right mood for a proper celebration. It plays host to Glasgow City Music festivals.

 

 

Collins Gallery - University of Strathclyde


This major tourist attraction of Glasgow is situated at the University of Strathclyde premises, it is home to major works of the Collins and sometimes the venue is used to host varying activities. The walls of the Gallery are lined with an array of colourful paintings and drawing numbering over a 1000, occasionally there are temporary exhibitions hosted in the Collins gallery. All year round the activities that take place here range from art, drama including dance. The Collins gallery appeals to its fan base of art lovers and people interested in dance and dramatic arts.

 

George Square


Right at the centre of the city and is a nice spot to relax in the sun, look at the statues scattered about it. It’s also a fun place to go feed the birds or just casually sit and watch passer-bys. It’s surrounded by magnificent building like the chamber of commerce. This square is generally used for activities targeted at catching the attention of people in the city.

 

Glasgow Caledonian University


This university is located a stone’s throw from the Buchanan bus station. The Glasgow Caledonian University offers a wide variance of courses to its increasing population of students. It openly admits students that come from varying cultural backgrounds and ethnicity. Its is home to the prestigious award winning Saltire Centre library and its environment has got a modern outlook which is comfortingly appealing  to current and prospective students and serves as an eye catching edifice to its visitors also.

 

Glasgow City Chambers


Its interiors are richly furnished and it holds bountiful tales and amounts of history. Tourists are generally won by the amount of luxury that the elegant interior upholds. There are artworks on display and the structure itself is a beauty to behold. It’s a must see if you are in Glasgow.

 

GoMA (free entry)


The Gallery of modern Art’s four floors houses primarily permanent exhibition of art works of new generation artists although there are occasionally temporary displays of other new generation art works. An intriguing landmark just outside of the GoMA is the statue that has a traffic cone on its head.

 

Hutcheson's Halls


An impressive building with reinstated statues of its founders – the Hutcheson brothers from a previous building on the outside of it. The inside is dotted with portraits of worthy Glaswegians and its halls a used for exhibitions, concerts and the likes. Its home to some note worthy art works. A visit to the Hutcheson’s halls is another treat for people who love art. There’s a gift shop right at the Hutcheson’s halls for people looking to take home a reminder.

 

Queen Street Station


A bustling station right around the George square in the city centre. Although it is smaller than the central station barely 5mins walk away, it is a very busy station. From this station trains could be boarded to other parts of Scotland. There are cafes just around the premises that serve as a hot spot for people waiting to receive their incoming guest or for people waiting to catch a train out of town.

 

Royal Exchange Square


Just outside of the GoMA (formerly the Royal Exchange) is a public square that is great fro taking strolls around and watching people. Around it are cafes with sit outs that provide a great view of the square.

 

The Italian Centre


Noted for the luxury it depicts, it is home to most of the brand worthy designs and flanked by luxury bars and restaurants right in the Merchant city at the city centre. It is perfect for upscale shoppers and on its shores is the first and only Versace store in the UK.

 

The Lighthouse AKA Centre for Architecture and Design


This six floored centre often holds outstanding exhibitions and in its premises you would find a café and a shop. It  is home to works from famous Architect Charles MacIntosh and works from other parts of the world.

 


The Pavillion Theatre


Almost the oldest theatre in Glasgow and host an array of pantomimes from time to time. It is known for the plays, music shows and comedy shows it features. A perfect fit for an evening out with friends and family who love to enjoy live performances together.

 

The Ramshorn Theatre


The Ramshorn Theatre is on the site of the University of Strathclyde with a graveyard right behind it. It stages dramatically artistic presentations that are produced by students and communities. It building is eye catching and attractive to tourists and is home to the University of Strathclyde drama centre. Its features drama classes and workshops and is a great treat for theatre art lovers or a good spot for talent hunters looking to spot future stars.

 

The Royal Concert Halls


A famous landmark that connects the Buchanan Street and Sauchiehall Street at the city centre of Glasgow. Popular for its brilliant music performance stages and houses several halls with the main hall having a capacity of over 2000 seats. It usually plays host to concerts and sometimes is used for hosting other functions. The Royal Concert Hall is another spot in the city that portrays the art loving nature of Glaswegians. Its is common to find people generally lurking around right in front of the Royal concert halls as it is of close proximity to popular streets (Buchanan and Sauchiehall Streets) in the city and generally just a hang out for youngsters.

 

Trades Hall


A Historic building of Glasgow and its original purpose was to serve as a meeting location for Trades House members. Till Date it serves its original purpose and is the meeting place if the Trades House Lodge of Glasgow. The Halls are also frequently hired for various activities like weddings, conferences as well as exhibitions. The Grand Hall for example has got a very lovely interior lined with portraits of worthies.
