Sports and Activities in Glasgow
XSCAPE and SNOZONE
Xscape offers a variety of activities that guarantees to keeps kids amused for hours. There is such a wide choice, your kids will not know where to begin!
First, there is the option of skiing and snowboarding. The Sno!Zone has real snow indoors all year round! So your kids can learn to ski and snowboard, or maybe practice their skills for a family ski holiday. Also in the Sno!Zone is the option for tobogganing. If skiing is not your thing but you want to do something fun with the kids, the tobogganing is great fun for the whole family! No matter your age, everyone loves tobogganing – its not just the kids that have fun. So why not book to go tobogganing with the family and have a fun day out.
If your kids are not ready to play a full round of golf, why not start them off having some fun playing Mini-Golf at Xscape. Paradise Adventure Golf offers something different for the kids. So if you do not fancy battling the wind and rain out on the golf course, have some family fun playing some Mini-Golf.

GOLF
If you are looking for a family day out that includes some sport, relaxation and beautiful surroundings, Rouken Glen offers you this. If your children dream of becoming the next Tiger Woods and want to learn how to play golf, Rouken Glen have an affordable 18 hole pay-and-play golf course beside Rouken Glen’s park, where you can teach your kids how to play golf and spend some time with your family.
There is also a golf driving range if you want to sharpen your skills before strolling the fairways and showing your kids your skills. If your kids are golf mad and you are not, why not leave them at the golf with Dad and head over to Rouken Glen’s Garden Centre to find those beautiful flowers you have been looking for. Then after the golf, why not have a stroll around the fantastic gardens, hire a boat on the pond and feed the ducks while you hear about your kids’ round of golf.
Rouken Glen’s 18 hole pay-and-play course offers affordable golf and is perfect for teaching your kids to play golf. If you want to play on the weekday, it costs between £11 and £20, and on a weekday, prices range from £14 to £25. The driving range is open 9am to 9pm everyday, so there are plenty of chances for you to bring your kids along, even if it is just to hit a few balls and work on their golf swing.
If your kids are just starting playing golf, Alexandra Park Golf Club is a public 9 hole course that is great for beginners or if you only have time for a few holes with the kids. It is a short course so will not be daunting for the children. It is located next to Alexandra Park, so why not pack a picnic, play some golf and spend some time outside with the kids.
Linn Park also offers a great golf course for kids. Why not come along to Linn Park and teach your kids some fancy golf shots. The course, on the south side of the city, has some stunning views over the city. If one round is not enough for your young golf enthusiasts, why not visit some of the other courses close by. Cathkin Braes, Williamwood and Blairbeth Golf Courses are also close by.
SCOTSTOUN LEISURE CENTRE: Sports
Are your kids sport crazy? Could they spend all day playing different sports?
Scotstoun Leisure centre offer a wide range of different sports. The sports centre is Glasgow’s largest health and fitness club and boasts a number of facilities.
There are indoor and outdoor tennis courts, where tennis star Andy Murray, Davis Cup player Colin Fleming and tour player Alan Mackin have previously played. So if your kids dream of learning to play tennis and playing at Wimbledon one day, why not bring them along to play some tennis and make some new friends whilst doing so.
The National Badminton Academy is also at the Scotstoun Leisure Centre, so if your kids love racket sports, it’s the place to be!
The Leisure Centre also boasts a number of other sports facilities. So whether your children are sports enthusiasts or you simply want them to try new sports, there is a great deal of variety at the centre.
There is a large swimming pool where you can spend some time in the pool with your family and have a splash about with the kids. It is great fun teaching your kids to do new things, so this could be the chance you have been waiting for. Teach your kids to swim and you could go swimming on a regular basis, keeping yourself fit and having fun with your family and children at the same time – sounds like a great deal!
At Scotstoun Leisure Centre, there is also a 400m running track and numerous football pitches. There is also a crèche for children so if you have young children who are not quite ready for sports, why not leave them to play in the crèche while you go for a swim, play some tennis, badminton or football with the other kids.
GLASGOW SKI AND SNOWBOARD CENTRE: Skiing
The Glasgow Ski and Snowboard Centre is a great place for kids. The centre in Bellahouston offers a variety of different activities for kids, no matter their level of ability. So whether your kids are looking for something new to try or are wanting to learn how to ski for a family skiing holiday, Bellahouston Ski Centre is the place to try. It boasts a dry ski slope so can be used all year round, there is no need to wait for the snow before you get your skis out!
So, if your children have never skied before, why not book a lesson so they can learn the basics and enjoy the thrill of learning to ski? Having been before as a young kid, I can safely say it is something the kids will love. Under the instruction of the ski teachers, your kids will be in safe hands and will quickly pick up the skills needed to ski. This might be the chance you have been waiting for to book that Skiing holiday to Switzerland with the family!
Has your kid been looking for the perfect birthday party? If so, a birthday party at the Bellahouston Ski Centre might be the perfect idea! It is guaranteed to be a fun day for the children, keeping them active and having fun together while racing down the slopes!
There is also the chance to have open practice where the kids can practice by themselves and have some races with each other.
If your children fall in love with skiing, the good news is that Bellahouston Ski Centre offer an after school club, which is on every Tuesday during the school term – 5.30pm to 6.30pm – so this might be the perfect opportunity for your kids to spend more time with their friends whilst having fun skiing!

Junior Ski School
If you have active kids, then it can be difficult to keep their days full, especially in the school holidays. Keep in mind that Glasgow Ski and Snowboard Centre run The Lucozade Junior Ski and Board School every week of the school holidays, offering children the opportunity to learn new skills and have lots of fun. The School runs in the Summer, October, Christmas and Easter holidays, so the kids have plenty of opportunities to develop their skiing skills, make some new friends and have fun in their free time. They will have lots of stories to tell their friends when going back to school after the holidays if they take part in the Ski school.
• Children have to be at least 6 years old for skiing
• Children have to be 8 years old for boarding
• All skills levels are welcome and everyone will be well looked after
• Costs: Non-members: £60 (first child), £55 (second and subsequent children)
Members: £45 (first child), £40 (second and subsequent children)
GLASGOW CLIMBING CENTRE: Climbing
Are your kids always climbing on things, whether its climbing over the furniture or climbing up trees? Or if they are just generally active children, then they will love the Glasgow Climbing Centre.
The Glasgow Climbing Centre has a variety of different courses for children to take part in. It is something different for the kids to try and will be a fun experience for them. It is great for a group activity and will help encourage your kids to learn how to work alongside and help others.
Also, if your kids have a great time at the Climbing Centre, there is the exciting option of having a Birthday Party at the centre. So why not invite friends along and have a great time climbing and enjoying the games staff set up. All participants must be aged 7 years or over.
