This rapidly expanding restaurant hub is home to some of the best dining establishments in the city. Lesser known for its grub, the modesty of the Southside is appealing to those who want to escape the bustle of the city centre. A handful of great eateries exist here that are often pleasantly tranquil during the week due to their location, perfect for a quiet family meal or business lunch.
In this area various chains exist alongside small family owned businesses serving the best of Scottish and foreign produce. The presence of different international communities in Glasgow is reflected in the vibrancy of the multicultural restaurant scene here, where Asian, Italian and Indian eateries thrive.
South Side Favourite
Cookie is slightly Kookie. It is on the Southside but it feels like should be in the West End via New York. It is a cafe with great Italian coffee but it is also a restaurant and bar. Its laid back atmosphere and odd ball nature make it well worth a trip to discover.
Situated in an old butchers shop in a building by one of the cities greatest architect "Greek" Thomson. It is a hop skip and a jump from Tramway and Pollok Estate.
Cookie serves the freshest and most seasonal food you will find in the city, with something different everyday. Many of their wines are imported directly from friends in Europe and the best Scottish Beers are on draft. Its owners are olive oil producers in Umbria and along with their amazing olive oil they bring back the best quality Italian products for sale in the deli and restaurant.
With 8/10 by Joanna Blythman and 4/4 by Dinertec they are doing something right.
