Aye Write 2010

From it’s inception in 2005, the Aye Write! Book Festival has embraced the great tradition of writing in Glasgow and Scotland, bringing together the best undiscovered local talent from sources such as Glasgow University’s Creative Writing School with a wealth of established writers from the city, nation-wide and much further afield!

Thanks to the ongoing investment of Glasgow City Council, Scottish Arts Council, Waterstone’s Bookshops and The Herald newspaper the festival continues to celebrate writing and publishing, promote reading and encourage debate on all things literary in the city.

The festival is committed to developing the next generation of readers and writers with a free children’s festival running in tandem with the main Festival.

This year’s festival once again takes place in the magnificent Mitchell Library, the city's cultural hub and one of Europe’s premier libraries – a fitting home for a festival which last year saw nearly 200 authors participating and over 28,000 people attending.

Aye Write! 2010 takes place from Friday 5th March until Saturday 13th March

Glasgow Comedy Festival

Now in it's 8th year, Europe's largest comedy festival descends on the city with a line up of top UK and international acts inlcuding Jimmy Carr, Lucy Porter, Dara O'Briain, Lee Mack and Glasgow's very own Frankie Boyle to drop a few names!

Jewellery and Bead Workshops

The Bead Company offers regular monthly classes from beginners to advance levels. From beginner through advanced levels, we can teach you the skills to make beautiful jewellery and bead related crafts. Most classes are 1.5 – 2 hours long, meet just once, and are designed to encourage you to build upon the basics. In addition to our classes we also have a monthly beading group and a beading bar. The beading group is open to anyone and provides an opportunity to work with, be inspired by & get to know other beaders. At the beading bar you can drop in during our open hours, grab a coffee and have our staff available should you need assistance. Our beading bar, group, and classes are held on our mezzanine.

Classes: Most classes cost between £12 and £15, though a few 'materials included classes' will be higher. We do not generally include the materials in the cost of a class because we want you to have the freedom to work with the beads and findings that you like best. We hope that by allowing you to pick your materials, we can spark more creativity and personal satisfaction in your designs. We will of course be available to show you what types of materials will be best for each project and help you in any way possible.

See our website for full details of upcoming classes and workshops.
