Glasgow is often linked with live music with several celebrated venues across the city. Voted by Radio 1 as ‘UK’s Best Live Venue’ in 2002, King Tut’s Wah Wah Hut is a long term favourite for music lovers who want to get up-close and personal with new and current bands. It was here in 1993 that Oasis were spotted and signed by Alan McGee.
For a good giggle head to The Stand Comedy Club on Woodlands Road. This cosy comedy venue is open 7 nights a week and features a varied programme from the best of Scottish and international talent.
To experience the 'real' Glasgow head to the Horseshoe Bar in Drury Street. Scottish favourites Travis used to rehearse upstairs before they found chart success and as a token of thanks, one of their Brit Awards is displayed behind the bar.
The King's Theatre and the Theatre Royal showcase various touring productions throughout the year and are most popular at Christmas when seasonal shows are often sold out.
